Scoot Cabin Baggage Policy: Everything you need to know

Scoot has always adopted a piece-based baggage policy. The number of pieces included in the carry-on baggage allowance on its flights varies depending on the fare booked or travel class:

In Economy Class:

On Scoot’s various routes, passengers who have booked seats in this cabin are entitled to:

  • Two pieces weighing 10 kg each and measuring 115 cm (54 cm × 38 cm × 23 cm).

In ScootPlus Class:

When traveling in the ScootPlus cabin, you benefit from an increased carry-on baggage allowance, meaning you can bring:

  • Two pieces weighing 15 kg each.

Additional accessories may be carried in the cabin beyond your allowance:

Each passenger is permitted to bring one additional accessory with a maximum size of 80 cm (all dimensions combined) (40 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm). This may include:

– Handbag

– Mobile phone or camera bag

– Baby bag filled with diapers, food, medication, etc.

– Small bags containing items purchased in airport duty-free stores

– Jacket or coat, etc.

Oversized or overweight Carry-On on Scoot

If it exceeds its weight or size limits, you cannot take your baggage in the cabin. Your items will instead be rerouted to the hold to be transported as checked baggage.

Liquids in Scoot Carry-On Baggage

No liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, or pastes larger than 100 ml, purchased in the public, restricted, or duty-free areas, are permitted in the cabin, with the exception of products packaged in a sealed 20 cm x 20 cm plastic bag and purchased with proof of purchase in the customs area.

Important: Medications, whether intended for children or adults, are not affected by this law. However, passengers must carry a medical prescription confirming the need to take them during the flight.

Prohibited Items in Scoot Cabin Baggage

In any case, the goal is for travelers to know what to expect and to assert their rights in the event of a violation. All sharp or pointed objects, firearms, flammable, chemical or toxic substances are prohibited in carry-on baggage for Scoot aircraft.

Here is a list of all items that should not be packed in your carry-on baggage, particularly items that may pose a potential safety hazard to passengers and airline staff:

Sharp tools: Long-bladed scissors, knives, blades, razors, cutters, scalpels, etc.

Tools, blunt and DIY objects: Screwdrivers, hammers, adjustable wrenches, pliers, batons, etc.

Substances: Non-cosmetic aerosols such as insecticides and spray paints, paint, solvents, flammable glues, matches and torch-type lighters, gas or fuel stoves, etc.

Imitation or replica weapons such as realistic toy guns, BB guns, or air guns, etc.

Note: All items listed above are permitted in checked baggage provided they are properly packaged.

Batteries, cells and electronic devices

The International Civil Aviation Organization has decided to ban lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries from checked baggage. However, these devices or appliances powered by these batteries are permitted in the cabin (in carry-on baggage) if they meet certain requirements:

Lithium-ion/metal batteries generating a power of less than 100 Wh, such as those found in laptops, smartphones and digital cameras …

Lithium-ion batteries greater than 100 Wh but less than 160 Wh are also permitted in the cabin, such as those found in professional video cameras, portable medical devices such as oxygen concentrators, portable gaming microphones, and high-capacity power banks.

– Personal transport devices (electric) such as scooters, segways, hoverboards are strictly prohibited in the cabin and hold.

Preparing your cabin baggage

Many passengers prefer to board their plane without carry-on baggage, putting all their belongings in their checked luggage. But what some don’t realize is that if you encounter unfriendly staff handling checked baggage, the risk of arriving without suitcases or with damaged luggage or items is high.

Thus, you should always plan for the worst by always packing your carry-on baggage within the weight limit.

So, here is a list of what you absolutely must pack in your carry-on baggage:

– Travel documents: This is the first thing you absolutely must take with you; we’re talking about your ID card, a copy of your plane ticket, hotel reservation, car rental voucher, credit card, etc.

– Electronic devices and chargers: Smartphones, laptops, and other electronic devices are very often stolen.

– Medications: If you are taking any medical treatment, be sure to bring your medication with you on board. Also, remember to bring your prescriptions, if the medications are specific and may be subject to questions during security.

– Valuables: Such as jewelry, watches, sunglasses, etc.

– Have a change of clothes: In case your checked baggage doesn’t arrive at the same time or date as yours!

– Clothes : Always remember to pack one or two pairs of underwear, one or two pairs of socks, and one or two t-shirts at the bottom of your carry-on bag. This will be very helpful if your suitcase doesn’t arrive and you have to wait two or three days for it to finally be delivered to your hotel.

– Toiletries: Whether you are a man or a woman, you are allowed to bring your own cosmetics, as long as the container does not exceed 100 ml.

Other useful items not to be left in your checked baggage, but in your handbag instead: electric shock absorber, sunscreen, deodorant, etc.
