How to earn miles

Regarding earning points, remember that 1 USD = at least 1 point. You might be thinking, “It’s great to have points, but what am I going to do with them?”

You can unlock your points balance at any time to obtain benefits, such as an award ticket, extra baggage, a seat, or a meal.

  • How does it work?

It’s as easy as child’s play: Enter your membership number (which was assigned to you after joining the program) in the dedicated field on the reservation form.

Earning status miles

These are points that are also awarded to you when you book with Singapore Airlines only, and these miles help you advance through the tiers of the KrisFlyer loyalty program.

For example: To travel from the Basic to Elite Silver tier, you need 25,000 status miles.

* Qualifying miles for status:

– From 50% to 100% of miles for Economy fares;

– From 125% to 150% of miles for Premium Economy and Business fares;

– 200% of miles for Premiere and Suite fares.

Manage your miles

KrisFlyer miles are infinitely flexible! Buy, gift, transfer miles to a friend, or extend their validity.

– Buy miles

Enjoy a free ticket, a discounted stay at a Singapore Airlines partner hotel, or another attractive reward quickly by using the “Buy Miles” feature. Log in to your account to enjoy!

– Give miles as a gift

It’s a great way to celebrate a loved one’s upcoming birthday, anniversary, or any other special occasion. Giving miles opens up countless possibilities, both in the air and on the ground!

– Transfer miles

Transfer miles to a loved one who already has a KrisFlyer account and help them qualify for a free ticket or other attractive reward.

– Extend miles

Optimize your balance by extending the validity of as many miles as you like. If your points are about to expire, you can extend their validity for an additional 6 or 12 months, depending on your status in the KrisFlyer loyalty program:

6 months: If you are a Basic member

12 months: If you are an Elite Silver or Elite Gold member.

Good to know

– Do KrisFlyer miles expire?

Yes, according to the rules of this loyalty program, miles earned from flight bookings and various purchases made with Singapore Airlines and its partners expire three years after they are earned.

– Pay for part of a booking with miles

This is possible thanks to the Mix Miles & Cash option. You can pay a large portion of the price of your flight with your miles points, helping you lower the price of your booking.

– When to redeem your miles?

The best time to redeem miles will depend on the season you’re planning your trip.

A peak season, for example, refers to the public holidays that exist in each country, and airlines are very familiar with them, so if you’re trying to redeem miles for a vacation in your own country, you’ll likely need a lot more miles.

Another peak season is migration between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, which depends on their respective summer and winter seasons.

Finally, the other major peak season is generally between late October and December.
