Scoot: All about its seat selection service

Scoot adopts an allocated seating system, meaning passengers can choose and select their preferred seats in advance.

Seat types available in Scoot cabins

Travelers on the Singaporean low-cost airline can now select their preferred seat either when booking or during online check-in, with seven options available:

  1. Standard Seats

Found in Economy Class on all Scoot aircraft.

  • Features:

– Pitch: 31″

– Width: 17″

– Recline (Seatback angle): From 4″ to 6″ depending on the aircraft.

  1. Front Seats

These are comfortable seats located in the first row of the A320 and E190 cabins.

  • Features:

These seats allow for quick disembarkation.

  1. Super Seats

These are more spacious than standard seats, offering extra legroom

  • Features:

– Super Seats offer 35″ of legroom.

– They are equipped with adjustable headrests.

  1. Stretch Seats

These are the most spacious seats in the cabin, with:

– A pitch ranging from 34″ to 48″ depending on the aircraft.

– The most spacious in Economy.

These seats are located either in the emergency exit row or in the bulkhead row (the first row in the cabin), meaning there are no seats in front of the passengers, who can stretch their legs more comfortably than other travelers.

  1. Scoot-in-Silence

Located in the quiet zone, only on Boeing 787s. These seats are positioned away from the aircraft’s engine, ensuring greater silence and tranquility for the passenger.

  1. ScootPlus

Previously called ScootBiz, these seats are only available on Boeing 787 Dreamliners and are equivalent to Premium Economy seats on other airlines.

  • Features:

– Pitch: 38″

– Width: 19.5″

– Recline: 8″

Other passenger benefits: Complimentary meals, Wi-Fi, power outlets, priority boarding and deplaning, and priority waitlisting.

Max Your Space

This isn’t a seat name, but Max Your Space is a booking option that allows passengers to reserve an empty seat next to their own for more space and comfort. Of course, this option is chargeable and can be booked in the Manage Booking section.

How do I select a seat on a Scoot flight?

All these seat options are available on Scoot-operated flights and can be accessed online.

After booking your flight, if the seat you were initially assigned doesn’t suit you, you can change it to another one by consulting the Scoot seat map online, under Manage Booking.

Selecting a seat after check-in

Sometimes, passengers may make a mistake in their seat selection or want to change their seat selection after having already confirmed their check-in. In this situation, Scoot reassures passengers by giving them the opportunity to change their initial selection up until the final check-in time, which is generally one and a half hours (1 hour and 30 minutes) before departure.

Are there any fees associated with seat selection on Scoot flights?

Yes, Scoot introduces a seat selection fee, but only for the Basic fare, which allows travel in economy class on standard seats (ranging from S$6 to S$22 depending on the flight distance).

However, this fee is included in the booking for Value and Flex fares, while seat selection is free for passengers traveling in the ScootPlus cabin.

Where to sit on a plane?

Indeed, although this is a common question among travelers, it’s difficult to find a unified answer because each traveler has their own desires and points of view.

Regardless of the plane you’re traveling on, your choice of seat will essentially depend on you.

Here are some tips for choosing your seat on your Scoot flight:

– Window Seat

A window is ideal for a good view and is generally more comfortable because you have a place to rest while you sleep and no one bothers you to leave.

– Aisle Seat

The aisle is perfect for those who like to get up often during the flight, whether to walk around or go to the restroom.

– Front rows, middle rows, or back rows?

For most Scoot travelers, the first seats on the plane are the most sought-after, which is why they are expensive. These are the seats located just after ScootPlus class.

– Seats with extra seating space

If you choose this option (which allows you to stretch your legs comfortably), you must opt for the Super seats.

– Seats near the bathroom

This is an area to absolutely avoid because the seats near the toilets are noisy due to the constant movement of passengers using the bathroom and toilet.
