Hand baggage allowance applicable on Singapore Airlines flights

Singapore Airlines applies a special baggage allowance policy to all its domestic and international flights.

General rules: Number, dimensions and weight of carry-on baggage allowed on Singapore Airlines flights

Specifically, Singapore’s national carrier offers its passengers the option to carry between 1 and 2 pieces of cabin baggage, depending on the class of travel:

– In Economy and Premium Economy Class: 1 x 7 kg; dimensions: 115 cm (L + W + H)

– In Business and First Class (Suites): 2 x 7 kg

Singapore Airlines is extending its cabin baggage allowance across its network, applying it to customers traveling to all four corners of the globe.

It has been several years since the ban on air travel with liquid containers larger than 100 ml in hand luggage came into effect. Although this measure was supposed to be temporary, and rumors have since circulated that this rule would be lifted thanks to improvements in liquid explosive detection systems, the reality remains.

Additional items you can bring in the cabin:

Singapore Airlines allows you to bring certain personal items beyond your baggage allowance, such as: Laptops, tablets, hairdryers, razors, cameras, and umbrellas, canes, wheelchairs, etc.

Children are also entitled to a baggage allowance

With Singapore Airlines, young travelers (under 2 years old) also have their own carry-on baggage allowance, even if they are traveling without a reservation (on their parents’ lap), but the maximum weight is often lower than that offered to adult passengers.

The Singapore airline allows you to carry one bag weighing up to 6 kg containing baby food and toiletries.

In addition, the airline allows free transport of a folding stroller, car seat, or infant carrier.

If your baggage exceeds the specified weight

If your bag or suitcase exceeds the weight or size allowed by Singapore Airlines, it will be checked into the hold.

Liquids in hand luggage

It’s been several years since the ban on air travel with liquid containers larger than 100 ml in hand luggage came into effect.

You probably already know that if you want to bring your toiletry bag on board, containers of liquids, sprays, or gels must not exceed 100 ml and must be packed in a transparent, resealable plastic bag measuring 20 cm x 20 cm. What you may not know is that only one bag per person is allowed. Its capacity must not exceed 1 liter. You can also bring up to 10 100 ml bottles in your cabin baggage.

If you’re a cosmetics fan and think you’ll need more, don’t forget to check certain products. And if you’re traveling with only cabin baggage, another option is to opt for solid products. For example, a bar of soap instead of a gel, or compact makeup instead of a fluid.

Carrying medication in cabin baggage

You are allowed to carry medication with you in the cabin, without being subject to the 100 ml rule. However, this must be a reasonable amount for the duration of your trip.

When going through security, you will need to remove your medication from your hand luggage and place the bottles in a plastic bag.

If you are taking regular medication, for example, for asthma or heart problems, you will need to be able to present your medical prescription to prove that you need this medication during your trip or stay.

For conventional medications, such as Doliprane or throat lozenges, no prescription is required. These medications are well-known and perfectly tolerated in cabin baggage.

List of items and objects prohibited in carry-on baggage

Many people continue to encounter difficulties at airports when trying to bring prohibited items in their carry-on baggage. Now you know the size and weight limits when traveling with Singapore Airlines. However, if you’re still unsure about whether your items will be confiscated at security, here’s what is and isn’t allowed in your carry-on baggage:

– Sports equipment

Such as tennis rackets, badminton rackets, and other sports equipment such as golf clubs, hockey clubs, cricket bats, fishing rods, darts, bats, bows, arrows, harpoons, knitting needles, martial arts equipment, scuba diving accessories, oars, javelins, skateboards, surfboards, swords, etc.

– Tools

Such as drills, screwdrivers, saws of any size, wrenches, hammers, etc. Any item considered a weapon cannot be transported in carry-on baggage. Also note that you cannot bring tent stakes, so if you’re camping at your destination, it’s best to purchase your tent upon arrival.

– Dangerous items

Such as weapons (including replicas, gun-shaped lighters, and toys), flares, fireworks, smoke bombs, pepper spray, and flammable liquids.

Generally speaking, and given the complexity of the regulations, it is better to limit the number of products in hand luggage and put as many products and objects as possible in your checked baggage.
