On July 2, Oman Air launched a direct flight between Muscat and Singapore, marking the Omani airline’s return to the South Asian market after nearly a decade of absence.
The announcement was welcomed by the Omani Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, which sees it as a key driver for attracting more foreign tourists to the Sultanate. At the same time, this direct route also represents an opportunity for business and leisure travelers wishing to visit Singapore, a prestigious destination and a key hub in Southeast Asia.
Yousuf Al Mujaizi, Deputy Director of Business Development at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, described this new route as an important step toward strengthening tourism, cultural, and economic ties between Oman and Singapore. He emphasized that Singapore is a valuable source market and that this direct flight will open up new opportunities for tourism and business, while allowing more visitors to discover Oman’s heritage.
On the airline’s side, CEO Con Korfiatis presented this launch as a strengthening of Oman Air’s network and a consolidation of Muscat’s role as a hub connecting the Asia-Pacific region and Europe, drawing in particular on the airline’s oneworld alliance partners.
Frequency and schedule
The new Muscat-Singapore Changi route is operated four times a week, on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Each leg takes approximately eight hours to cover a distance of about 3,429 miles, making it the longest route operated by Oman Air using a single-aisle aircraft and its fifth-longest route overall.
The flights are operated by Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, configured with a total of 162 seats: 12 in Business Class and 150 in Economy Class. Tickets for this new route are available for purchase on Oman Air’s website and mobile app.
Thanks to Oman Air’s recent membership in the Oneworld alliance, passengers on this new route benefit from seamless connections to key Asia-Pacific markets such as Australia, Japan, and Hong Kong, as well as benefits related to loyalty programs (lounge access, earning and redeeming miles).
A Strategic route in a rapidly expanding network:
The launch of this route is part of a broader expansion: Oman Air has added five new routes this year to Singapore, Sochi, Tashkent, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi, bringing its total number of international destinations to forty-nine.
