Inaugural flight celebrated at Supadio:

The arrival of the first flight to Pontianak was welcomed by Governor Ria Norsan, along with several representatives from PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia and Forkopimda, with several Scoot executives also on board.

For R. Norsan, the launch of this new route is not limited to facilitating mobility for the local population: It also represents an opportunity to showcase West Kalimantan’s tourist destinations to foreign visitors, as provincial authorities intend to step up the promotion of their tourist sites to the Singaporean market and, more broadly, to travelers transiting through Changi Airport.

For her part, Maya Damayanti, General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia for Supadio Airport, hailed this as an important milestone in strengthening the airport’s position as the international gateway to West Kalimantan, thanking Scoot for adding Pontianak to its network of international destinations.

A Market Scoot considers promising:

Scoot’s chief representative in Indonesia, Divesh Singaraju, views Pontianak as a new market with very promising potential, driven by the already robust tourism and economic ties between Indonesia and Singapore. He stated: “We hope that this new route will make it easier for residents of Kalimantan to travel to Singapore, while also attracting more Singaporean visitors to the province.”

Provincial authorities hope that the success of this new route will pave the way for other international connections, particularly to China (Beijing and Guangzhou); given the strong commercial and tourism potential between the two regions.
