Low-cost carrier Scoot confirms its strategic presence in Malaysia. The airline now serves 12 destinations in the country, with 130 weekly flights departing from its Changi hub.
For the fiscal year ending March 31, Scoot reports having carried more than 2 million passengers across all its routes between Singapore and Malaysia. The network covers both major metropolitan areas and secondary destinations, often less well-served by traditional airlines:
– Kuala Lumpur and Subang (airports in the capital)
– Penang, Langkawi, and Melaka (tourist hubs on the west coast)
– Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Miri, and Sibu (Malaysian Borneo)
– Ipoh, Kota Bharu, and Kuantan (secondary cities on the peninsula)
This coverage allows Scoot to attract both business travelers to Kuala Lumpur and tourists to the islands (Langkawi, Penang) and the nature destinations of Borneo, which are very popular for ecotourism and diving.
Recalling that Scoot concluded a three-year memorandum of collaboration with Tourism Malaysia in August of the previous year, formalizing a strategic partnership aimed at promoting Malaysia as a must-visit destination to regional markets.
How much does a Scoot flight to Malaysia cost?
Like all low-cost carriers, Scoot uses dynamic pricing: the price of a ticket varies significantly depending on the booking date, the travel period, and the aircraft’s occupancy. As a guide, on Singapore-Malaysia routes, basic fares (without checked baggage, excluding options) generally start in a fairly low range for the shortest and most frequented destinations such as Kuala Lumpur or Penang, and can rise significantly during school holidays, Malaysian or Singaporean public holidays, or as departure approaches.
