Singapore Airlines announced that it has entered into a special partnership with Malaysia Airlines. The two airlines now offer unified fares on the route between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
The partnership, which was formalized after receiving approval from both the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) paves the way for a dedicated joint venture to operate flagship routes connecting the two countries, such as the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur flight.
The new agreement is built on three main pillars: a harmonized fare policy; better synchronization of flight schedules; and a revenue-sharing mechanism on their joint routes.
An agreement that extends to loyalty programs:
As part of their code-share agreement, Singapore Airlines and Kuala Lumpur have also linked their KrisFlyer and Enrich loyalty programs, allowing members to earn miles on both programs when traveling on routes they operate jointly.
