Singapore Airlines is removing the A380 from Frankfurt and sending it to Melbourne

By | May 21, 2026

Singapore Airlines has just announced major changes to its A380 flights.

The A380 will be replaced on the Singapore-Frankfurt route

The Singaporean national airline has made a final decision: its flight between Singapore Changi and Frankfurt will no longer be operated with an A380 as of October 26. The double-decker superjumbo, which has been deployed on this route for approximately 14 years, will be replaced by a Boeing 777-300ER.

However, the national carrier has stated that it will redeploy the A380 on its flights to the German destination starting March 28, 2027.

The A380 returns to Melbourne

The decision to remove the A380 from the SIN-FRA route was purely commercial. The Star Alliance member will deploy its 471-seat Superjumbo to Melbourne, Australia, throughout the Nordic winter. This period, which runs from late November to the end of March, typically sees high demand on the Singapore-Mel route.

Singapore Airlines unveils its winter A380 schedule

During the upcoming winter season, the Singaporean national airline plans to operate 1,456 flights with its A380, averaging 10 daily flights, connecting its Changi hub to eight destinations across continents:

  • Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (Middle East)
  • Melbourne and Sydney in Australia (Oceania)
  • Auckland in New Zealand (Oceania)
  • Delhi and Mumbai in India (Asia)
  • London Heathrow in the United Kingdom (Europe)
  • Shanghai Pudong in China (Asia)

Singapore Airlines operates a giant fleet of 180 aircraft, including 19 A380s.
